What's the difference between financing and leasing?

When financing, you make payments for an agreed-upon payment and term. At the end of that term, you own the vehicle. Leasing involves deferring a portion of the value of the vehicle to the end of the term. This way, the monthly payment is calculated using the remaining difference between the agreed value of the vehicle, LESS the amount that is deferred. This results in a lower monthly payment but leaves a balance that is still owed at the end of the term.
